The journey of a dollar
- A charge happens at checkout, on an invoice, or as a booking deposit. It appears immediately in Transactions.
- It becomes balance. After processing, the money sits in your Balance: real, yours, and queued for payout.
- It becomes eligible. A card payment becomes eligible for payout two business days after the sale. A payment taken on Monday is scheduled for payout on Wednesday, and one taken on Friday is scheduled for Tuesday.
- It pays out. After the funds become eligible, the automatic daily schedule sends them to your bank. Each payout appears under Payouts with its status: pending, in transit, then deposited, plus the expected arrival date.
An email for every payout
Each time a payout leaves, Sable emails you the amount, the day it’s expected to arrive, and the bank account it’s headed to. Instant payouts get the same email the moment they’re on their way. If your bank ever sends a payout back, you get an email for that too. It tells you the money is safe in your balance, gives the bank’s reason, and links straight to where you update your deposit account. In a salon, payout emails go to the owner. A booth renter’s payout emails go to that renter alone, including for money still on its way after they’ve moved on from the salon. An owner with a personal payments account gets two streams: one for the salon’s payouts and one for her own. Questions about any payout? Reply to the email and it reaches our team.If you rent a booth
Your money is your own. Balance shows your earnings on your own payments account, and only yours: the salon sees none of it, and none of theirs mixes into it. Money from a payment lands in Pending first, next to the date it becomes available to pay out. Next payout names the day the money leaves and the bank account it goes to, so a pending balance always comes with the date it clears. Instant payout and your payout schedule are yours to run. Changing where your money lands is on the same page: Change bank account under your deposit account. We text you a code first, so nobody but you can move your payouts to a different bank.Your personal payments account
If you own the salon and also take clients, your earnings from behind the chair can go to their own bank account. Under the salon’s account in Settings → Payments, the Personal Payments Account card walks you through Set Up: the same steps you took for the salon, this time for you. Once the account is verified, Turn on sends the appointments where you are the stylist to your personal account. We text you a code first, because this changes where your money lands. Everything else stays with the salon: clients, services, inventory, your calendar and the booking page.- Your services, tips and product fees go to your personal account.
- Salon retail you sell goes to the salon’s account, in full.
- Earlier sales stay where they were paid. Refunds, disputes and deposits come from the account that took the original payment.
Reading the Payouts page
Each payout shows the gross amount, what was deducted, and the bank account it went to. If a payout ever shows Failed, it’s almost always a bank account change or closure; fix the account and the money retries, it doesn’t vanish.Verification, in plain terms
Your payments account is identity-verified; that’s a regulatory requirement for anyone who processes cards. Sable walks you through it at Settings → Payments when you first set up, including confirming your phone with a code and accepting the payments terms. Booth renters use Balance → Payout account on the web, or Menu → Balance → Connect payments in the iOS app. The status and verification steps apply only to the renter’s own payout account. That account is where a renter’s own client payments land. Rent goes the other way, from the renter to the salon, and lives on Booth rent: bank transfer is free, card adds 3.5% + 30¢, and rent can be paid automatically on its due date. Afterward, one of these describes your account:- Active: verified and processing normally. This is home.
- Onboarding: setup isn’t finished. Pick up where you left off with Finish setting up payments.
- Restricted: the verifier needs something: a clearer document photo, a matching name, an updated detail. Sable surfaces exactly what’s being asked for, and payouts pause until it’s provided. Handle it the day you see it; the fix is usually five minutes.
Changing your bank account
Deposit account on Settings → Payments shows the bank your payouts land in, by bank name and last four digits. Owners add or change it there with add bank or change bank. Verification protects this step (you’ll confirm a code), because rerouting payouts is exactly what a thief would love to do quietly. Admins see the same account, read-only. If payouts are paused because your account has no bank on file, the same page says so and takes you straight to Deposit account.Refunds and negative balances
Refunds and chargebacks come out of the payout account that received the sale. If its connected balance cannot cover the amount, the payment provider can debit its payout bank account to restore the balance and fund the client refund. When something looks off
- A payout is late. Check its status under Payouts first; “in transit” with tomorrow’s date is on schedule, not stuck.
- The balance seems low. Refunds and processing fees come out before payout; the overview’s “where your money goes” section shows gross, fees, refunds, and net so the math is visible.
