Your forms library
Forms in the main menu opens your library. The sidebar down the left holds Create form, a search box, and the workspaces your forms live in: All forms, Salon-Wide, and one folder per stylist. Contacts gathers the contact details your forms have collected, and Insights puts every response you can read into one table. Both follow the responses that are yours to read. Switch between List and Grid at the top right, and order the library with Sort forms: Date created, Last edited, Name or Responses. The list shows each form’s Responses, Completed, Updated and Status. Status is one of three words:- Published is live. Its link opens the form right now.
- Unpublished was live and is switched off. Its link still opens, and shows that the form is closed.
- Draft has never been published, so it has no working link yet.
Delete a form
Delete names the form in its heading and tells you what goes with it: how many responses are deleted, whether its link stops working, and that it cannot be undone. When the form has responses, Sable asks you to type its name before the button works. Two forms are never deleted, so the record survives. A form that has taken payments, and a form holding signed agreements, both say so and point you at the alternative: unpublish it to close its link.Save a client card
Add a Card on file question to a private form and share it using a client-specific request link. The client reads and accepts the business’s storage and purchase terms, then enters the card in secure payment fields. The form records that the card was verified; it does not record a card number or security code, and saving the card makes no charge. This control needs connected payments and a client request link. Keep public forms for questions that do not require saving a card. A later purchase is charged by a separate checkout action for the displayed amount.Create a form
Create form opens What would you like to create? with four ways in:- Start fresh names a blank form and opens the editor.
- Templates offers three starting points built for the chair: Client Intake Form, Waitlist Application Form and Model Form. Every question is yours to rewrite once the copy is made.
- Create with Jules builds a first draft from a description of what you want to ask.
- Import questions takes your questions pasted or typed one per line.
Build it
The editor opens on Content. Results sits beside it, and Share joins them once the form is published. Pages run down the left. Add new page starts a new one, Add Welcome Screen puts an opening screen in front of everything, and Endings holds the screens a client sees when she finishes. Add content opens the question picker. Search it with Search form elements, or browse the groups:- Contact details: Contact Info, Email, Phone Number, Address, Website, Social Media Handle
- Writing: Short Text and Long Text
- Choosing: Multiple Choice, Stylist List, Dropdown, Picture Choice, Yes/No, Legal, SMS Consent, Checkbox
- Scoring and ordering: Opinion Scale, Rating, Ranking, Matrix
- Everything else: Number, Date, Signature, Payment, File Upload
- Structure: Welcome Screen, Statement, End Screen
Stylist List
Stylist List offers your salon’s active, bookable stylists as answer choices. It has the same settings as Multiple Choice, including required answers, multiple selections and selection limits. Turn on Include booth renters to add your salon’s bookable booth renters; it starts off. Map to contacts can save the selected names in the client’s Notes. The choices come from your team. New respondents see roster changes automatically, without republishing. Someone who already started keeps the list she started with, and saved results retain the names she saw. Refresh stylists updates the editor’s preview. A Stylist List needs at least one bookable stylist before you publish it. Selection limits adjust to the number of choices available when someone starts. Changing an existing question to Stylist List asks you to confirm replacing its manual choices and default selections. Rules that depend on those specific choices are removed; rules that check whether the question was answered remain.Legal text and SMS consent
A Legal question is the wording itself. Whatever you write as the question is the text your client accepts, and it is what Sable stores as the consent record, so write the release or the policy there rather than summarizing it. Your client answers I accept or I don’t accept. SMS Consent is different and deliberately so. Its wording is the registered disclosure carriers require, so you cannot edit it, it is never required, it arrives unticked, and a form carries one of them at most. It covers appointment texts and replies. It is not marketing permission. See SMS consent and conversations.Settings
The gear opens Form settings with four tabs. General holds the two settings that decide where a submission goes:- Form owner is the stylist the form belongs to, or Salon-Wide for a form the whole team works from. The owner is whose waitlist an approval fills and who an invite books with.
- When approved is what approving a submission does: Mark as approved, Add to clients, Add to waitlist or Create booking invite.
Check it, then publish
Preview runs the form the way a client will see it. Nothing you type in Preview is saved as a response. When something is still missing, Sable shows Finish setting up your form and lists what to fix: a question with no title, a Legal question with no wording, answer choices left blank, a payment with no amount. Select an item to jump straight to it. Then Publish form. After that the button becomes Publish edits, and it only lights up when you have changes waiting. Your link never changes, so edits you are still working on never reach the form a client is holding. Unpublish form closes the form without deleting it or its responses. The link keeps working: anyone who opens it sees your salon’s name, the form’s name, and a short note that it is not taking responses right now, so the client you texted last week is never told her link is wrong. Publish again and the same link opens it. On an ending screen, turn on Button link, enter an HTTP or HTTPS address, and leave the field to save it. Turning the link off keeps the address so you can turn it back on. Add an address before publishing an ending with Button link turned on.Share it
The Share tab has three ways to put a published form in front of people. Share the link is the standing link for your Instagram bio, a text, or the tablet at the front desk. Copy link takes it, the arrow opens it, and the buttons beside it share to Facebook, LinkedIn and X or open Email the link in your mail app. Link preview is what that link looks like when it is shared. Upload a Thumbnail (JPG, PNG, or WebP, 1200 × 630 recommended), write the Title and Description, and publish your edits for the change to show. Show in search results decides whether search engines list the form at all. Embed in a web page and Embed in an email build the code for you. Choose the layout and size, then Get embed code and Copy code.Send a form to one client
A client’s profile has a Forms tab, and the same tools sit in the Forms section of an appointment. Send a form picks the form and how it travels: Text, Email or Copy link. Sable tells you when a route is closed before you choose it, with the reason on the option itself, such as No phone number on file or This client hasn’t agreed to texts yet. Sending by text or email closes the dialog and confirms who it went to. Copy link puts the link on your clipboard and leaves it on screen. A form that has been sent and is still waiting keeps its own row, with Fill now, Text link, QR, Resend, Copy link and Cancel. QR fills the screen with a code for her to scan on her own phone. Once she submits, her row becomes a completed response you can open in Results. A submission from your public link is not attached to anyone until you approve it. Approving matches her to an existing client by email or phone, or creates the client from what she submitted.Hand her the device
Fill now is for the client in your chair. Sable covers the whole screen with the form, and the staff dashboard underneath is replaced rather than merely hidden, so a reload or a stray tap does not expose your salon. When she finishes she chooses Hand back to stylist. You can also use Return to staff in the bar at the top. Either way Sable asks you to confirm your identity before the dashboard comes back, so the device is safe to hand over and safe to hand back. On a salon iPad, use this with Salon Mode: Salon Mode protects the device between teammates, Fill now protects it while a client is holding it.What your client sees
Your form opens in your colors, one page at a time, with the button label you chose. The bar across the top fills as she moves through, when you have Progress bar on. Back takes her to a previous page to change an answer, though not once she has signed or paid. Required questions are marked with an asterisk and say Please answer this question. if she tries to move on.- Photos. She chooses images from her camera or camera roll, including the HEIC pictures an iPhone takes. JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF are accepted, up to 50 MB each and up to 10 per question. The gallery shows each one when it is ready, and Try again picks up an upload that was interrupted.
- Signatures. She signs by drawing with a finger or a stylus on the signing pad, types her name in Full name, and affirms that her name and signature are her electronic signature. The name input says Type your full name before she types. Save signature stores it.
- Legal questions. She reads your wording and chooses I accept or I don’t accept. A required one that is not accepted says You need to accept this to continue.
- Ranking. She moves the options into her order and confirms with Keep this order.
Read what comes in
Results is where the answers live. It opens on Responses, with Response summary and Form performance beside it. Search matches names, email addresses, answer text, tags and response IDs, and a phone number in whatever shape it was typed, with or without brackets and dashes. The date control covers All time, Today, Last week, Last month and Last year, or a range you pick yourself. Filters builds conditions on any question and on Review status, up to ten at a time, matching All conditions or Any condition. The Favorites button narrows the list to the ones you starred. Spam is its own inbox beside Responses, and anything you move there can be moved back. Open a response and the page address changes with it, so the link in your browser bar opens that exact submission for a colleague who can read it. Inside the panel you can step through submissions with the arrows, star one, Reply by text or email, Download PDF, and Summarize with Jules for a short brief before she sits down. Review status moves a submission between New, Needs review, Approved, Rejected and Archived, and a rejection is never final. Tags group the ones you want to find again. Further down: Export response, Mark as spam, Delete, and View client once the submission is attached to someone. A question she skipped reads No answer, which is not the same as a blank you have to guess at. When an answer differs from what her profile already holds, the panel shows both, in a sentence like “Phone: (312) 555-0142 on the profile, (312) 555-0199 on this form.” Update profile applies it, and nothing changes until you choose it. Tick several rows and the bar across the bottom offers Approve selected, Set status, Archive, Export selected, Mark as spam, Delete selected and Clear. Export responses downloads what your filters currently show, as.csv
or .xlsx. Columns follow the order of the questions on your form.
Response summary breaks every question down, with counts or percentages,
charts, and a searchable list of written answers. Form performance shows
views, starts, submissions, completion rate, time to complete, and which page
people leave from.
Approve a submission
Approve response runs the form’s When approved setting. On a form that feeds a waitlist the button reads Approve to waitlist, so you always know what the click is about to do.- Mark as approved changes the status and nothing else.
- Add to clients creates or links the client from what she submitted.
- Add to waitlist also puts her in line with the form’s owner, or on the salon’s waitlist for a Salon-Wide form. The panel then links straight to that waitlist. See From application to booked.
- Create booking invite also mints a private booking link for her, with Copy link, Send by text and Send by email right there on the response. See Invite a client to book.
Who can do what
A stylist or the front desk never reads another teammate’s own forms, and a
booth renter’s forms and responses are hers alone. Deleting responses follows the same rights as
deleting the form, so a stylist never deletes a submission, and deleting a
signed agreement response is the owner’s alone.
When something arrives
A new submission notifies whoever can read it: the form’s owner for a form that belongs to one stylist, and the team otherwise. The notification carries the form’s name and, when Sable knows it, who submitted it. Selecting it opens that exact response.Storage
Responses, the photos your clients upload and the PDFs Sable generates all draw on your salon’s form storage. The owner and admins see the Form storage meter at the bottom of the Forms sidebar. See Form storage. On your iPhone and iPad
The Sable app has Forms in the menu, with your forms and their responses. Scroll a form’s Responses to page through every submission; spam stays in its own inbox on the web. Open a submission to read every answer, to open photos and signatures full screen, and to change its status when you manage that form’s responses. On a form you manage, Settings in the app covers the name, the stylist it belongs to, Active, the default form, When approved and automatic delivery. Questions, design and the form’s messages are built in the form studio on the web: Edit questions and design on the web opens it in Safari. Forms made before the studio show their questions in the app, and on iPad you can edit them there. Send a form and Fill now are on a client’s Forms tab and on an appointment, for the forms you can send. Copy link puts the form’s link on your clipboard, ready to paste. Leaving Fill now asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode before the staff app returns.Forms that earn their keep
